Research Development Core
Competitive research awards
The Research Development Core (RDC) expands the number of scientists engaged in projects on aging biology and to promote interdisciplinary and multidimensional research. The RDC stimulates innovative metabolism and translation research in the basic biology of aging through a series of competitive mechanisms, including Pilot Awards, fast-track Ideas Awards, Mini-Sabbaticals, and the Weindruch Scholar program.
The RDC administers the WiNSC Award Program and is the primary point of contact for interested applicants. Initial inquiries and/or questions about the application process should be directed to the WiNSC Program Manager Alicia Weich at winsc@medicine.wisc.edu.

WiNSC Award Program
The WiNSC grants several awards to investigators researching aging.
Pilot Awards
The purpose of the Pilot Award program is to competitively offer directed funds to explore new and innovative ideas/concepts. Applications from early-stage investigators or established investigators pivoting their research toward mechanisms of aging are particularly encouraged.
Idea Awards
Idea Awards are geared towards rapid implementation and turnaround of key missing data sets in manuscripts or in preliminary data critical to establish feasibility or new conceptional evidence in extramural grant proposals.
Weindruch Scholar Program
Named in honor of UW-Madison Aging Research pioneer Richard Weindruch, this program will support exceptional young scientists engaged in biology of aging research.
Mini-Sabbatical
The goal of the Mini-Sabbatical Program is to support external scientific and networking development in partnership with aging focused investigators nationally.
